Concrete is quite literally the foundation of many construction projects. It's also widely used for exterior surfaces – i.e. driveways, sidewalks, patios, etc. Concrete is strong, durable, relatively inexpensive and can be formed into many shapes and sizes.

But concrete also has its drawbacks. It is prone to crumbling, cracking, settling and heaving when exposed to the elements. It also stains rather easily.

As a property owner, how do you determine what damage to repair or not? Rest assured, we at Metro Concrete Inc. can help you with these important decisions in many ways. Right from the site inspection we can evaluate the problem, determine the best repair solution and implement the services needed – i.e. slab raising, grinding or concrete replacement.

Site Inspection:
One of the many "value adds" we offer at Metro Concrete Inc. is an inspection of your property absolutely FREE. We have a full-time inspector on staff, who will examine and determine the most cost-effective and durable concrete repair solution.

» Inspect your site to assess the condition of your walkways
» Cost estimate and planning for repairs
» Our proven repair methods are guaranteed to reduce liability

Trip Hazard Repair:
Problem:

Tree roots pushing up the walkway, sub-grade erosion, and poor soil conditions cause trip hazards in concrete walkways.

Solution:

To eliminate trip hazards we will use concrete grinding rather than traditional sidewalk replacement. After grinding, the surface is left even on both sides with a gradual slope, instead of a dangerous edge. This solution will help cut costs drastically.

Slab Raising:
Problem:

The builder places 'fill-dirt' alongside the house foundations and curb lines. If the fill is left un-compacted, it will cause driveways, porches and walkways laid over it to gradually sink over time.

Solution:

We can solve the problem with slab raising, which is the lifting of sunken concrete. This solution can repair your sunken concrete for less than half the cost of replacing it. Instead of new concrete patchwork, your original concrete is retained, therefore keeping the aesthetic appeal. In minutes you can have your concrete slabs elevated to their original height.

How it works: A series of holes are drilled in the slab, high-pressure grout is pumped under the slab, replacing the soil that has subsided and lifting the concrete to the desired elevation.

» It can be done in virtually any weather. The material injected beneath    the slab provides a strong base.
» There is little or no disruption to the landscaping.
» Conveniently nothing needs to be moved off the slab to execute repair.

Concrete Replacement:
Problem:

The concrete is so badly damaged that it is beyond repair by grinding or raising, therefore, must be replaced.

Solution:

Concrete is removed with a sledge hammer, jack hammer or tractor. Forms are set and new concrete is poured in place with the desired finish. This is the traditional method for fixing damaged walkways.

Divider Board Replacement:
Problem:

Concrete Divider board is used as a decorative addition to concrete when it is poured new. There are also practical uses for divider board, i.e. it aids in making the concrete flat during installation and serves as a deep joint in the concrete so that the individual slabs don't crack in the center. Sometimes the individual slabs become separated and the divider joints misaligned. With time, the boards sink and come out because of rot.

Solution:

Rotten, missing or separated divider boards are replaced with a specialized environmentally safe grout that is specifically designed for divider replacement. The grout is professionally installed with a defined edge and a light broom finish creating aesthetic appeal.
